Bensoni Fall 2010

I know that Bensoni's Fall 2010 collection didn't exactly get rave reviews, but I still really enjoyed elements of the show... the use of plaid, fur and punches of colour really appealed to me, as did the mini-hat headbands, which were just adorable... in fact, it reminded me of a modern day Alice in Wonderland of sorts, complete with a whimsical wood as the background setting. And although I thought their dresses left something to be desired, the rest of the collection suited me just fine... Call me crazy, but I'm a fan.

Today's photo is brought to you by the Sartorialist, who's style influence knows no bounds. I love this pic because it shows that true style, unlike youth, is never fleeting... rock on grandpa!

Burberry Prorsum Fall 2010

Fitted, and cropped, and oversized- oh my! The Burberry Prorsum runway was buzzing with variety for Fall 2010... narrowing down my favs proved to be a daunting task, as designer Christopher Bailey left no style behind in his quest for the perfect coat. From military styles to demurely tailored numbers, Bailey hit the nail on the head with this collection. The muted colour scheme and fabrics are divine, and the over the knee boots and accessories are to die for. Now if only I had an extra couple of grand lying around...

Kiehl's never fails...

I'm a skincare junkie; always have been, probably always will be... So in my ever present quest for eternal youth, I decided to give Kiehl's Abyssine Eye Cream a go. And to say that I'm glad I did so is a huuuuge understatement. My eyes look bright and hydrated, and there's nary a wrinkle nor a fine line in sight, thank you very much! I've never tried a Kiehl's product that I haven't loved, and this cream is certainly no exception. Their lip balm and hand cream are unreal, and I can't wait to try the other products in the Abyssine line... Never fear my friends, Kiehl's can fix whatever ails you!

Cynthia Steffe Fall 2010

What is it about the sexy schoolgirl look? It never seems to get old, and instead is reinvented time and time again... From Britney's lowbrow rendition of the 90's (oops, I'm showing my midriff again!), to the Upper East Side version a la Gossip Girl, the look seems to have more lives than the proverbial cat. That being said, I'm totally loving Cynthia Steffe's take on the iconic look for Fall 2010. These are my top picks from the line's NYFW show, designed by Shaun Kearney... are we sensing a trend here, people? It almost feels like Clueless meets Parisian chic... it either needs animal backpacks and pouff pens or scarves and baguettes- I'm not quite sure which. Regardless, all I can say is ooh la la! Like, totally.

be still my beating heart...

So I may have mentioned this before, but I have a bit of a girl crush on Alexa Chung... She's fabulous. I mean come on- she always looks amazing, and her brand of cool seems so effortless it's unfair. And speaking of effortless cool, have you seen her Fall 2010 collection for Madewell? It's totally rad. I can see her in every outfit... I love the blouses, high-waisted jeans, cardis, overall dresses, grey socks and shoes... basically, what I'm trying to say is that I like it all. And can you blame me? Oh Alexa, you've stolen my heart once again...

plaid is rad...

Has there ever been a time when plaid wasn't "in" in one form or another? Doubtful. This super print seems to perpetually reinvent itself season after season, and I would be hard-pressed to imagine fall without plaid. That being said, how drool worthy is this dress from the Jill Stuart Fall 2010 ready to wear collection? I love the asymmetrical neckline, ruching and puffy sleeves, not to mention those killer over-the-knee boots which make my heart pitter patter. I hate to say it, but as much as I'm looking forward to spring, this little gem is making me yearn for fall...

photo of the day...

Well, photos, really... In light of the fact that yesterday was Valentines Day, I think these photos are quite fitting... a tad late, but still fitting. These pics posted on Green Wedding Shoes are super adorable, and I want to dedicate them to Mr. AT... love you lobster!

Erin Fetherston Fall 2010

Oh fashion week, how we love thee... the wealth of inspiration that trickles down the fashion hierarchy alone is incentive enough to follow you- this time in New York. The Fall 2010 collections that I've seen so far have all been amazing (thank you style.com!), but I'm especially partial to the Erin Fetherston ready to wear collection. She's pretty much the queen of party dresses, and this collection certainly did not disappoint. I loved her flowing frocks rendered in delicate fabrics and colours, and her tailored blazers and boots are right up my alley. It's nice to see her add a bit of edge to her designs, which are typically more whimsical in nature, and incorporate a 70's feel into her aesthetic. This collection makes me wish I had a fabulous fete to attend... oh cruel fate, you have left me party-less once again...

RIP Alexander McQueen...

Sad news hit the fashion world today, as the legendary Alexander McQueen, 40, has passed away. He was a true visionary, and his incredible contribution to the fashion industry will never be forgotten. Rest in peace Alexander, you will be missed...

a fist full of love..

I just finished perusing the incredibly adorable this time tomorrow, and seriously fell in love with this ring... no pun intended. I'm a big fan of two-finger rings, and was recently gifted a super cute one from Forever 21 (thanks M!). Regardless, a gal can never have too many jewels, right? I'm officially on the lookout for a similar piece, so if any of you know where I can pick up a love ring of my very own, hollah at me!

Erica Domesek, you are so my hero!

I'm a big fan of DIY... after all, is there anything more satisfying than identifying a trend and recreating it all by your lonesome? Me thinks not. And as far as I'm concerned, Erica Domesek is the queen of doing it yourself. Her website is a constant source of awe and inspiration... seriously. In fact, I'm pretty sure she's the coolest, most resourceful chick out there! Just look at this necklace she created for Helmut Lang's Spring collection... sheer awesomeness. The collaboration includes necklaces, bracelets, and scarves crafted from leather, denim, and t-shirt material, which sounds pretty darn good to me. I'm so inspired that I think I may just have to make one for myself... sorry Erica, but imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right?

oh my God, it's finally happening!

I just received the greatest news this morning whilst checking my emails... are you ready for it? Brace yourselves people, it's big... Club Monaco crest sweatshirts are back!!! I'm so ridiculously happy! These were a childhood staple for me, as I pretty much refused to wear anything else and insisted on collecting as many colours as my parents would allow me to... But then adolescence leered its ugly head, prompting me to foolishly donate my beloved sweatshirts in an attempt to break free from childhood associations... what a chump! I've regretted that decision for most of my adult life, let me tell you... In fact, I've spent many fruitless hours scouring thrift stores in search of a classic CM sweatshirt. No dice. But the wait is finally over... As of this month, CM is reintroducing their iconic sweatshirt, along with hoodies and tshirts, in select Canadian stores. If you don't live in Toronto, Vancouver, or Burnaby I'm afraid you're shhh out of luck, but at least there's always eBay, right? And with a Vancouver shopping trip already planned in two weeks time, I'll give you five guesses as to what I'll be on the look out for...

Baptiste Viry- oh my!

Have you checked out Baptiste Viry's SS/10 collection yet? Above is but a mere teaser of his latest offerings. This French design genius wowed me with his innovative bow tie/suspenders necklace, brilliantly combining two iconic elements of menswear in a chic, unconventional way. His leather and suede belts further add to the menswear-inspired aesthetic employed throughout the collection, as do his sassy conductor hats... are we sensing a theme here, people? I myself am partial to his multi-strand chain necklaces, which are making me want to run home and make jewelry- stat. I think I may just have a new found appreciation for menswear...

Zara Spring 2010 lookbook teaser..

Feast your eyes on what's to come, ladies! As previously stated, I'm so ready for spring to get here already, and this wicked lookbook from Zara's Spring collection isn't helping matters... I absolutely LOVE each and every one of these looks, from the muted colour scheme all the way to the amazing styling (loose braids rule!). I like the combination of super soft, flowing layers with crisp, structured pieces... and have you seen those brown leather shorts? They're pretty much the greatest thing I've ever seen! A note to spring- please hurry up and get here already... you're killing me!

it's here! it's here!

That's right my friends, the new Nylon hit stores today! And just in time, because I was starting to feel seriously Nylon-deprived... Although I don't really care for the Vampire Diaries (cover story), the February issue is brimming with radness. From denim dresses (hello, chambray!) and printed harem pants (MC Hammer would be proud), all the way to Alice in Wonderland graphics and Parisian photo-shoots, I'm completely glued to this issue... For reals.

anxiously awaiting...

Although a trip to Hong Kong would certainly delight my senses, what with its expansive skyline and harbour, I suppose I'll have to settle for OPI's latest offering instead. The Hong Kong collection boasts twelve amazing colours, all vividly saturated to perfection. See that green colour? Yeah, that's coming home with me ASAP... Amply dubbed "Jade is the New Black", it blows the Chanel version I referenced months ago out of the water. And that bright purple, cleverly named "Dim Sum Plum", wants to adorn my digits in a bad way... Scheduled to hit stores this month, just try and stop me from adding a bottle or two to my nail polish collection!
