little "bow" peep...

With fall officially upon us, I wanted to wear something simple, yet uber feminine today... and with the sun shining down-- for the time being at least-- this little jacket proved to be the perfect choice. It's super lightweight and obviously not equipped for chillier weather (what with half of it missing and all), so I jumped at the chance to wear it before having to transition into hard-core winter gear (and believe me, it's inevitable). I felt like a young schoolgirl again, a modern day Madeline if you will, in my little bow-adorned coat... all I need now is red hair and a yellow hat and I'm set.

And now for the sake of nostalgia....

adventures in thrifting...

Photobucket

So I know I do this a lot, but I can't help it... I just love sharing thrifting finds with you way too much! And this, let me tell you, is a good one. I found this leather clutch at a Salvation Army about a year ago, and it was love at first sight. I die for all things 80's, so naturally the allure of this bag was palpable. And just imagine my excitement in discovering that not only was this clutch amazingly rad and in perfect condition, but it was vintage Stuart Weitzman to boot! As an avid bag collector (see: hoarder), I was in blissful heaven... Who says material objects can't bring happiness?

last days of summer...

Photobucket

OK, so maybe summer is technically over, but this unseasonably warm weather called for a summer-attire throwback. This little dress has served me well, acting as a tried-and-true wardrobe staple throughout the summer. Tucked away as it has been this past brisk month, the first signs of fair weather definitely warranted its return.... and by wearing it with tights and boots, I felt less like a summer junkie in denial and more like someone who has accepted the changing season while still embracing an unexpectedly beautiful day. Add a crazy belt, and you've got yourself a pseudo-fall outfit!

Speaking of the power of suggestion.... wowza. I want every piece in this photo-- especially that Pamela Love obsidian ring! Sheer amazingness...

These prints are blowing my mind... literally. The colour palette is divine, and the sharp, crisp patterns are making me want to run to the closest mall and buy up anything and everything even slightly resembling these pieces. Oh, the power of suggestion...

Remember how psyched I was when I bought this belt? Despite how enthused I was over it, I somehow neglected to wear it until today. I know, I know... Better late than never though, right?

These Jil Sander shoes are unreal... Leave it to Jane Aldridge to sport such an amazing pair-- she does, after all, have the most fabulous shoe collection ever.

holy hair, batman!

I'm strangely drawn to this image... I don't know if it's her sky-high hair, geometric top, or orange lips, but something in this, er, interesting look has me left me captivated. Am I crazy, or is this outfit surprisingly chic?

DIY bow headband...

I'm a big fan of DIY projects, so when I saw this PS I Made This video about making your own bow headband, I rushed to my local fabric store and gave it a try. Erica Domesek is amazing, and she has this remarkable ability to recreate virtually anything herself... and if it's good enough for Erica, it's good enough for me! This headband was super easy to make, and I had a lot of fun along the way... hmm, what else can I make?

Check out the video and let me know what you think!

It's been nothing but rain and cloudy skies this past week, so you can imagine my excitement when the sun decided to make a guest appearance today. When dealing with finicky weather, any photo op will do, right? Exactly. So with only a camera and Mr. AIF in tow, I hastily headed to the Legislature Building here in Edmonton for a quick photo sesh. I was stoked to wear my Wilfred Tuxedo Blazer from Aritzia today, as it's often too light for brisk fall days... And paired with a casual top and shorts, it proved to be the perfect outfit to galavant this beautiful fall day away.

monty, the python...

Photobucket

I'm so excited about this bracelet, I just couldn't resist sharing it with my lovely readers! I've been a longtime lover of serpent motifs in jewelry, and have always had an affinity for ancient Egyptian examples. I mentioned this to Mr. AIF about a year ago while at an exhibit, so naturally he stowed this info away for an opportune moment... We just celebrated an anniversary (ironically, the day of our big move!), and he was crafty enough to find this example at my favourite antique mall and surprise me with it... I know, right?

I'm absolutely IN LOVE with this bracelet, which I christened "Monty" and since haven't removed from my wrist. Evidently he's a Victorian Revival piece by Whiting and Davis from the 70's, and I couldn't be more psyched by this gift... He's sssss-super!

through the wardrobe...

Photobucket

So as you all know, I've been busily settling into my new home and city... sure, it's great to get acquainted with one's surroundings, maybe even make a new friend or two along the way, but let's face it ladies, the single most important aspect of moving is recreating one's closet! I've had a lot of fun this past week, but nothing compares to the sheer gratification I've gotten from organizing my wardrobe. I may not have quite as much space as I once did, but paring down and focusing on the pieces I truly love feels a trillion times better... so on that note, here's a sneak peak into my brand new closet!

Kisses from Edmonton!
